James Dipple-Johnstone is the Chief Regulatory Officer and Deputy Commissioner for the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). James provides executive oversight of the ICO's regulatory delivery areas, co-ordinating strategic planning and operational development to ensure that the ICO has the right regulatory response as well as mix of skills and resources to deliver its broad regulatory obligations and regulatory services. 

He has a background in regulation and investigation, having joined ICO from the Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) where he was Director of Investigations and Supervision, leading teams in their investigation and assessment of professional misconduct, money laundering, cybercrime and fraud. James’s background is in regulation and investigation having worked in a number of government, police and NHS oversight bodies.
