The European Data Protection Supervisor
Wojciech Wiewiórowski is the European Data Protection Supervisor. He was appointed by a joint decision of the European Parliament and the Council on 5 December 2019 for a term of five years.
Prior to his role as the European Data Protection Supervisor, Mr Wiewiórowski was elected by the Polish Parliament as the Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data at the Polish Data Protection Authority, between 2010 and 2014.
Mr Wiewiórowski was also the Assistant Supervisor of the previous European Data Protection Supervisor, the late Mr Giovanni Buttarelli, between 2014 and 2019, before he was appointed as the Supervisor himself.
